The shell is a QuickShell and QML interface over the operating system's existing owners. It brings the application drawer, settings, agent panel, dial, notifications and navigation into a surface that can be used on a phone or laptop.
Presentation has a lifetime
A small resident shell keeps session presentation available. Larger surfaces and optional workers should live only while they are needed. Dock and Topbar have their own source repositories, pinned by the shell so a build names the exact components it contains.
The application panel talks to the served conversation. Settings selects the relevant agent and provider. The compositor owns window geometry and closure; the shell presents requests and observed results. That division matters when a popup disappears, a window moves or an account changes while work is in flight.
Designed for the hand in front of it
Phone drawer sizing, navigation gestures, playback controls and resize feedback are exercised as separate interactions. A QML parse check can catch a broken component. It cannot establish that the intended application opens under a thumb.
What remains open
- Interaction and accessibility acceptance remain specific to each surface and device.
- Some settings and application strings remain incompletely localized.
- Installing a shell package and activating its code are separate observations.
